Coach House Buildings Insurance
by Hayley Connolly
Many homeowners of coach houses are still finding it tricky to find an Insurance provider willing to cover a coach house arrangement. This is because of the Legal Liability arising from the homeowner being the
freeholder of the property, and there usually being more than 1 leasehold agreement on the garages underneath the property (ground floor). Coach Houses are unique, albeit becoming more common during 2014, properties with 2 or 3 garages or car ports on the ground floor of the property, these are usually leased to surrounding property owners, with the freeholder usually retaining 1 of the garages for themselves. The property owner/freeholder's living quarters are above the garages on the first floor.
